THE SHORTENED TONGUE LIGAMENT

Occasionally, support from laughing gas can be helpful. Children are given a mask to wear on their nose through which they inhale a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen. Among other things, this reduces the perception of pain, decreases the sense of time and reduces the gag reflex. It can therefore be very helpful in the treatment of infected teeth if the local anaesthetic alone is not sufficient to ensure that no pain is being felt.
