Dentists already offer various methods such as hypnosis, music, acupuncture, various relaxation techniques, laughing gas sedation or similar to take away their patients' fear. For some this may be sufficient, but for those who are really anxious, general anesthesia with intubation is the only sensible option for restoring the teeth.
Experience shows that many of these traumatic events can be prevented by carrying out many of the examinations, treatments or dental/surgical procedures under anesthesia. It is important that no painful procedures are carried out during the initial examination, but that a treatment plan is drawn up using the appropriate X-ray examination to plan the treatment process. At the second appointment, all painful treatments are carried out under intubation anesthesia. A positive experience with anesthesia can take away the patient's fear for later treatments. Although general anesthesia is not a cure for oralophobia, patients find it very pleasant.
