MINIMAL INVASIVE METHODES

In the past, you only had the choice between "drilling" or "not drilling", which often led to a great deal of work. Today, there are several alternatives and not every bit of tooth decay requires drilling. In minimally invasive therapy, we have several options available depending on the indication, the location of the tooth decay, the age of the child and the long-term goal:

  • Caries infiltration with Icon©, suitable for example for incipient interproximal caries on permanent teeth or whitish decalcifications after fixed orthodontic therapy.
  • Confining caries with silver diamine fluoride (Riva Star©). It is suitable for large, exposed caries in easily accessible areas. Caries and the associated pain can be stopped for the time being as an interim measure, for example if a child is still too small for a regular filling or if treatment is not possible at the time for other reasons or has to be postponed. One disadvantage of this treatment method, however, is that the treated carious areas become darker in colour.
  • Curodont repair© offers regenerative treatment of initial tooth defects without drills and synthetic materials  "Guided Enamel Regeneration"

We will be happy to discuss with you personally whether and which of these treatments are suitable for your child.
